Taxpayers on the hook for EPA fines

| October 17, 2009 9:00 PM

What a relief to know the Environmental Protection Agency is on the case!

Imagine, those nasty bypass construction people violated the Clean Water Act not once but seven times by not updating their Stormwater Pollution Protection Plan! That is really serious! Parsons RCI is a big corporation, and as everyone knows, all big corporations are evil, all construction projects wreak irreparable damage, and all government agencies exist for the sole purpose of making our lives just a little better.

I shudder to think what private enterprise might do without government oversight. I’m so glad that bureaucrats are on the case, to keep those sly construction workers on their toes during the most expensive project in ITD history.

I’m sure glad all those big trucks don’t spew a bunch of exhaust every time they haul a load of dirt from one end of the county to the other at the government’s behest. All that exhaust might contribute to global warming!

Best of all, that $65,000 fine should keep Parsons RCI in its place. After all, in the long run they’re not the ones paying fines for their evil violations, it’s those ignorant tax payers. I’m sure glad I’m not one of those!
