PRIEST RIVER— The Lady Spartans were firing on all cylinders Tuesday night, defeating Clark Fork 25-13, 25-23, 25-16 and Timberlake 25-14, 25-20, 25-15 in a tri-match at Priest River.

Senior Taylor Stewart and junior Melissa Hopkins both had big nights from the serve line, combining for 17 aces.  Stewart also had 29 kills and Hopkins 13 digs.

“When they (Stewart and Hopkins) have good games, I haven’t come across a team that can stop them,” said Spartan coach kati Bodecker.  “If they perform like they did tonight we should do well at districts.”

Clark Fork held on to beat Timberlake in five games, 25-17, 25-15, 25-20, 25-15, 15-12, to go 1-1 on the night.  Wampus Cat sophomore Celeste Komanec recorded 39 assists and Shaina Gustafson nine kills for Clark Fork (12-5).

“It was good for us to get the competition,” Cats coach Carolyn Speelmon said after the game.  “I saw good things tonight and we challenged.”

Clark Fork hosts the winner of Thursday’s Kootenai/Mullan game on Saturday, at 1 p.m.
