Bernice P. (South) VanDenBerg, 74, fell asleep in death on Oct. 9, 2009, at Hospice House in Spokane, Wash., surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Dick VanDenBerg; sons, Michael and John; daughters, Cynthia Wawers and Teresea Bucher; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Billie Haller, Margie Eskridge and Mary Hoyle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Edna South; brothers, Lloyd Robert, Melvin, Bert and Gary; and son-in-law Brad Bucher.

She will be missed very much by those who knew her to be kind and giving in so many ways.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at 2 p..m. in The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness, 11912 E. Empire (Pit Road and Empire), followed by a celebration of Bernice’s life at the Avenue Social and Corporate Events Center, 9320 E. Mission Ave. in Spokane Valley, Wash.
