Dawgs 8th grade team pulls off upset

SPOKANE — The Sandpoint Dawgs 8th grade football team went up against an undefeated Ferris team recently, showing no fear and pulling off a 15-0 upset in their regular season finale.

With the offense struggling in the first half, defensive back Carson Paull intercepted the Ferris quarterback and returned it for a touchdown for the game’s first score. Dean Knaggs then completed a pass to Collen Jurenka for the extra point.

Thanks to a swarming and attacking defense, Paull was able to add two more interceptions in the second half. Jarvis Hinton-Abbott had a great game blitzing from the linebacker spot, and steady gang tackling never let Ferris get any momentum.

The offense began to move the ball in the second half, including a 50 yard pass play from Paull to Knaggs. Knaggs then kicked the point after, which counts for two points in the league.
