Marsha will bring fresh vision to city

| October 28, 2009 9:00 PM

For far too many years we have had members on the city council that have seen the future of Sandpoint in a rear view mirror. Some of these same people are incumbents in this election. Our country, our county and our city are undergoing dramatic economically driven changes. Citizens are having garage sales to make rent, and when that doesn’t work having to sell their stake in the North Idaho dream. I have seen the city councils of the past, locked in argument and inefficiency, reacting more to the crisis of the day than focusing on the long term needs of this city. This election is about more, than a talent show. This election is about who can help the City Council function as a united body, respondent to the needs of people of Sandpoint.

I have known Marsha Ogilvie for 16 years. I sincerely believe that she has the character, intelligence and drive to be an exceptional council person. She has extensive experience with the downtown businesses. Remember those are the people that have unswervingly supported this local economy. Marsha’s involvement with the tremendously successful Kinderhaven reflects on her compassion for local needs. My vote is for Marsha as a council member who can help unite the council through example, can serve without a hidden agenda, and can deal with the problems of Sandpoint compassionately and most of all will bring a new blood and new vision to what has been at times a short sighted, apathetic, dysfunctional council. As the Yogi said,

“If you don’t know where you are going, you will wind up somewhere else.”
