Immediate change is needed to save planet

| October 31, 2009 9:00 PM

I’ve been caught up in confusion about the lack of debate about the subject of global warming. On the computer, I find that thousands of scientists have signed petitions that, in effect, say that man-made global warming is not possible. Yet, we recently had a global day of climate action on Oct. 24.

When I awoke on Sept. 24 it was about 15 degrees Fahrenheit outside. It’s been close to that most mornings for about the past week. This past summer has been very mild and has seemed to be abruptly cut off by cold weather.

Two scenarios seem to be fighting each other. The scientists that have predicted a mini ice age, and are ignored, may be right. Or the people that are climate activists really may have gone too far and are contributing to global cooling that will destroy North Idaho as a good place to live. Having a summer season with very few hot days is not bad, but to have cold weather for seven or eight months is not ideal.

Only one type of action is possible to save our lovely area. Those people who are going green must quickly reverse their actions and go dirty. Unscrew those fancy light bulbs and use the old kind. Get off their bikes and try to pollute like never before. It may not be too late to have a decent fall and summer like we used to have.
