Does this nation still have a constitution?

| September 2, 2009 9:00 PM

The U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights are written contracts between the federal and state governments and the people of this great nation. The Bill of Rights guarantees us, its citizens, very specific rights that can’t not be breached or taken away by the government. The Constitution established a representative democracy for which we, the people, elect representatives to serve us in the executive branches of government.

As I watch these town hall meetings and observe our representatives acting superior before the people they serve, I’m shocked by their attitude they display. I don’t care how or what you title yourself, we are Americans first and foremost and our representatives are there to serve the people, we are not here to serve them.

In my view the first ten amendments of the Bill of Rights are most important to us as citizens. Of the ten, the First and Second Amendments are of the greatest importance because they allow us as citizens freedom of speech, press, assembly, to protect ourselves and to band together and create a militia to defend our country if needed.

In 1960 at the United Nation Nikita Khrushchev (General Secretary Soviet Union) screamed “We will destroy you” and later admitted to an aide the only way to destroy the United States was from within.

The reason why I bring this up is because the First and Second Amendments are under assault by those who want the United States to be lead by an oligarchy. The assault is coming through the 16th Amendment, Article I, Section 8 (The right of government to tax.)

Several days ago I was checking various bills when I stumbled across HR-45 Blair Holts Firearms Licensing and Record of Sale. If passed, it will stop weapons and ammunition sales in the United States because most of us will not be able to pay the tax associated with the sale. If the new FCC diversity czar (Mark Lloyd) gets his way under the diversity clause, AM radio, TV stations, newspapers, even the Internet will go away because they will be taxed into history.

As I look back through history, one can’t help but see that other countries have been over thrown because the opposition got control of the population’s guns and they lost their ability to communicate with each other through freedom of speech. radio stations and newspapers were immediately closed and guns were confiscated.

When President Obama came into office, naturally, most of us greeted that with joy; however, right now we are spending $100 a second of every hour of every day.

Something is not right with this picture!  Martin Luther King said “Judge a man on the content of his character.”

My Dad always said “Judge a man based on his actions not what he says.”

Folks, the president words and actions don’t match up.

We as a collective group must stand up and look to Washington and shout “Not on my watch”. If we don’t, our children and grandchildren could wear the yoke of tierney.
