COEUR d’ALENE — Flashing a new and improved team unity, Clark Fork scored an impressive 25-18, 25-16, 25-20 win over Coeur d’Alene Charter Thursday night.
Chelsea Macumber and Shaina Gustafson each had seven kills, Moranda Becker had three aces and Gustafson added a team-high six digs as the Wampus Cats (1-0) showed they’ll be a team to be reckoned with this year, taking down a 2A team in their season opener.
“I wasn’t really surprised. My girls have improved 100 percent over last year,” said head coach Carolyn Speelmon, who has been preaching a team first mantra this year. “I’m pleasantly excited. We haven’t beaten Charter in a while.”
Clark Fork is at Kootenai on Tuesday.
