Gwen Salesky, 89

Sandy, Ore., resident Gwen Salesky died at her home on Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009.  She was 89. 

A private family service will be held.

Gwendolyn Helen Quigley was born June 30, 1920 in Kennewick, Wash., to Joseph and Mary (Lewis) Quigley. She was raised in the Northwest and her family settled in Priest River, Idaho.

 In 1950 she married Ralph Salesky in Anchorage, Alaska. They had three children and later divorced.  She worked for various places, including the U.S. Navy during World War II, modeling, stewardess for United Airlines and homemaker. Gwen ended her working career in the advertising department at the Gresham Outlook.

She continued to live in Oregon and Idaho before moving to Sandy in 2005 to be near her family.

Gwen enjoyed reading, cooking politics, playing bridge and spending time with her family. 

Surviv-ors include her sons, David Salesky of Troutdale, and Douglas Salesky of Santa Cruz, Calif.; a daughter, Mary Howell of Sandy; grandchildren, Melissa Kitchen of Sandy, Karen Glantz Salesky of Troutdale, Fletcher Salesky of Santa Cruz, Emily Howell of Sandy, and Amy Salesky and Stephanie Salesky, both of Santa Cruz; two great-grandchildren; and a niece and a nephew.

Estacada Funeral Chapel is in care of arrangements.
