Bulldogs rout Vikings in home opener
SANDPOINT — Piper Wahlin, Koko James and Christina Johnson — powerful hitters the lot of them — each had eight kills to lead Sandpoint to a 25-16, 25-10, 25-12 dispatching of Coeur d’Alene in home opening volleyball action Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court.
Johnson added a team-high 14 digs, and James and Ariel Moe each had nine set assists as the Bulldogs (2-0) were never threatened.
“We finally started playing our game of volleyball,” said Alsager. “Everything is faster; faster defense, faster pace on setting. We’re never good starters, but luckily we don’t get too uptight about it.”
Sandpoint simply had too much firepower for the young and rebuilding Vikings, who at times looked overmatched.
“Our biggest challenge is playing everybody,” said Alsager, who played all 13 of her players. “It still feels like pre-season.”
The Bulldogs host Moscow on Thursday.
