SANDPOINT — Junior McKinzi Obaitek blasted in the game-winning goal off a nice assist from Meghan Pagano in the 58th minute to lead Sandpoint to a hard-fought 1-0 win over Post Falls Tuesday evening at War Memorial Field.

Sophomore goalie Bryce Clark had a couple of huge saves down the stretch to post her third shutout of the season for Sandpoint (4-2), while garnering high praise from her coach.

“She had a couple of huge saves to help us win it,” said head coach Adam Tajan of his sophomore goalie. “She was just huge for us tonight.”

Tajan also lauded the much improved play of Post Falls, which mounted a furious attack to try and tie the game down the stretch.

“An exciting game right down to the wire. Post Falls was throwing lots of numbers forward and had a big push in the final 10 minutes,” said Tajan of the Trojans. “They’re a team that’s going to turn some heads and impress some people this year.”

Sandpoint is at University on Thursday for another tough nonleague game against a Washington school.
