SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man was arrested late Wednesday for allegedly kicking a Sandpoint Police officer while being escorted into Bonner General Hospital.

George Wallace Davidson was arrested for felony battery on a law officer, but is expected to be charged with a misdemeanor instead, according to court documents. Judge Debra Heise released Davidson on his own recognizance on Thursday pending the filing of the lesser charge, court records said.

Davidson, 62, was taken into protective custody for intoxication after being ejected from the 219 Lounge and challenging officers to fight, the report said. Davidson was reportedly unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and smelled of alcohol.

Davidson was taken to BGH for evaluation, but was not under arrest. But that changed when Davidson, who has a prosthetic right arm, kicked the officer in the groin as the he was being guided into the hospital.
