SPOKANE — Sandpoint dug a 3-0 deficit in the first half, before rallying to within one in the second half, but University had too much firepower as the Bulldogs fell 4-2 in nonleague girls soccer Thursday afternoon at University High School.

Meghan Pagano scored her third goal of the season off an assist from McKinzi Obaitek in the 49th minute, and Obaitek scored off an assist from Alicia Mertz in the 58th minute to make it 3-2, the closest the Bulldogs (4-3) would get.

“We came out flat and U-hi took advantage of us,” said Bulldogs head coach Adam Tajan. “We showed a lot of heart and drive to keep in it and dig out of a hole.”

Bryce Clark had eight saves in goal for Sandpoint, which plays at Lake City next Tuesday.
