Wahlin serves Bulldogs past Timberwolves
COEUR d’ALENE — After suffering its first loss of the season to a tall and talented Pullman team last weekend, Sandpoint bounced back nicely with a convincing 25-11, 25-16, 25-17 sweep of Lake City Tuesday night.
Piper Wahlin tallied eight kills and 16 digs to go with some stellar jump serving, and Koko James addes six kills and 16 assists to lead Sandpoint (6-1). Wahlin ran off 10 straight jump serves in the first game, including three aces, to set the tone for the match.
Sophomores Ashley Shepard and Alex Bucholtz also contributed, posting five and three kills, respectively. Shepard also added a team-high two blocks.
“It was fun for the sophomores to get in playing with the seniors, helping to make a difference,” said Bulldogs head coach Karen Alsager.
Strange as it sounds, Alsager said her team was excited by the level of competition in the loss to Pullman, which featured middles who were 6-foot-4 and 6-foot-2.
Sandpoint hosts Lakeland on Thursday.
