Peacock honored as top chamber volunteer

| September 18, 2009 9:00 PM

Kristan Peacock from the University of Idaho Extension Office received the honor of volunteer of the month at the Chamber’s August luncheon.

A long-standing supporter of the community, she served as a member at large on the Chamber’s board of directors and rose to the occasion to serve as secretary in her last few months of service.  Most notably, Kristan is the backbone of the Ag & Forestry’s annual Farm Tour and coordinates everything from registration to volunteer coordination to organizing the farms to visit.   For the last nine years she cheerfully works behind the scenes to plan this tour to farms throughout Bonner County.

“She has the ability to light up a room when she enters and make everyone around her feel better,” said committee chairman Doug Lynch.  “I don’t think there is any way to count how many lives she has touched over the years.  Her family has been in this area for generations, and I now realize that she is the way she is because of them.  She has an energy in her that keeps her constantly moving forward and always looking for opportunities to help others.  I am so proud of her, and I know that she will help many more people in the Sandpoint area for years to come,” he said.

Chamber officials expressed their sincere thanks to Peacock for her service to the agriculture and forestry community, to our youth, and for her continued involvement to make our area a better place to live and work.
