Ordinance is a sign of future tyrannies

| September 19, 2009 9:00 PM

I think it’s wonderful that the city of Sandpoint has finally found a way to conduct warrantless searches of its citizens’ homes and property under the guise of inspecting backflow devices.

This intrusion, this petty tyranny will be excellent training for the larger tyrannies yet to come. Such as the confiscation of your children because you were observed feeding them a Big Mac and fries. Or for when you are hauled away because you were overheard engaging in “hate speech” or criticizing the president, or refusing to get inoculated with a vaccine more harmful than the flue it’s designed to protect you against.

So, for heaven’s sake, don’t act up. Don’t storm City Council meetings by the hundreds to demand this new ordinance be rescinded or, God forbid, start a recall petition. Don’t ask to see a warrant when some Sandpoint city functionary demands access to your property. Don’t call the police or collectively hire a lawyer for a class action lawsuit. Please, act responsibly. Forget your freedoms, you have none. Forget the Constitution, it no longer exists.

When you hear that knock on your door, be good little Santapointers and don’t resist. It’ll be good practice for the future.
