I thought the public would like to know a little piece of information about our new bridge going in over Lightning Creek at Clark Fork.
The “thumper” or pile driver as you would call it drives the steel pilings into the creek’s bedrock for the foundations of a new bridge.
The other day I went out and timed the “thumper” driving the steel in: 40 thumps per minute, 2,400 thumps per hour, 19,200 thumps per eight-hour work day, and 96,000 thumps per 40-hour work week.
That’s a lot of thumps.
