Trio score in Sandpoint win

SANDPOINT — When the reigning 4A state champs are clicking, as they were on Thursday afternoon at Great Northern Park, they’re a downright tough team to contend with.

Post Falls (5-3-2) found that out first hand, falling 3-0 to Sandpoint, which played crisp and clean soccer from start to finish.

“Sandpoint was on their game today, what do you do?” said Post Falls coach Gabe Lawson. “They’re tough to mark, and when they’re on, they’re tough to beat.”

The big three seniors — Daniel Anderson, Adam Crossingham and Anders Nostdahl — each scored a goal, as the Bulldogs (8-1-2) dominated possession and out-shot the Trojans 16-4.

“We needed that win. The results come when you put in the effort,” said Sandpoint coach Randy Thoreson, adding the return of Anders Nostdahl to the midfield energized the team. “When he’s in the game, things happen.”

Sandpoint hosts Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday.
