Sledfest returns to Schweitzer for second year
SANDPOINT — If you attended the first Sledfest last April at Schweitzer Mountain, the adrenaline is already pumping for this year’s event. If you didn’t, there are more reasons than ever to attend this year’s Sledfest on April 17-18, 2010 at Schweitzer Mountain Resort.
The two-day event promises to have even more excitement with plenty of Snocross and Hillcross action in one fun-filled weekend, including spills, crashes, high-flying snowmobiles and snobikes, an X-Games Gold Medal rider making an appearance, and Rockstar kicking in freebies for the crowd.
Last year 160 racers participated, and this year organizers are expecting 300-400 people. X Games Gold Medalist Joe Parker will be on hand performing free-style tricks.
“He’s top notch,” said event organizer Jeff York of the four-time X Games medalist. “There will be a lot of people coming to town, and it will be a boon for the economy.”
Saturday will feature the elimination rounds of both Snocross and Hillcross, and a 120CC kid’s class snowmobiles on a special track built just for them. Sunday will feature the finals for all classes, from 120CC’s to semi-pro and pros. Sunday also includes a special Sweetheart race with couples sharing a snowmobile to the finish line. This race is always a crowd pleaser and you won’t want to miss it.
Besides racing, there will be plenty of vendors with displays and Schweitzer will have the bar and restaurant open throughout the event.
Weekend passes can be purchased in advance for $20 at Sandpoint Marine and Motor Sports, or can be purchased on Saturday for $15 and Sunday for $10, with little kids admitted free of charge.
