Hamilton leads Bulldogs in doubleheader loss to Bengals

| April 15, 2010 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Meghan Hamilton scored three runs and stole a base in the second game, but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs fell 12-1 and 16-4 to Lewiston in a softball doubleheader Thursday at Travers Park.

Sandpoint (3-10) committed eight errors in the two games, and had trouble keeping the Bengals off the basepaths. Dickinson felt his team made strides in the outfield, and had high praise for the hustle of Hamilton.

“She was getting on base and getting dirty,” he said, noting Hamilton moved from catcher to the infield as the Bulldogs shuffled some players around in the absence of hot-hitting Maggie Kirscher. “She also played well at shortstop, where she really hasn’t played.”

Hammack had three hits on the day, including a smoked opposite field double, and Sammi Thoreson added two hits for Sandpoint.

The Bulldogs play a doubleheader at Lakeland on Tuesday.
