SANDPOINT — A former Hope resident has been indicted by a federal grand jury in Boise for tax evasion and failing to file tax returns.

The indictment against Michael Fitzpatrick was filed on Wednesday, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Internal Revenue Service announced.

The indictment alleges Fitzpatrick marketed and sold products from 2002 to 2004 that claimed to allow people to completely eliminate their credit card and other forms of debt. Fitzpatrick sold the debt-elimination products over the Internet through paid agents.

Fitzpatrick operated under several business names, including Dynamic Solutions Inc. and NAES Inc.

The indictment further alleges that Fitzpatrick failed to file individual income tax returns for 2003 and 2004, and used offshore bank accounts and other accounts held under the names of businesses and nominees to disguise payments for personal expenses.

Fitzpatrick, as the president of Dynamic Solutions and NAES, failed to file corporate income tax returns in 2004, according to the indictment.
