Prayer legal under First Amendment

| April 17, 2010 9:00 PM

Greetings, my name is John, I am a home-schooled sophomore. I have always been taught of the power of prayer, and this power is evident all around us in the prosperity of our country.

However, I have recently seen displays of public prayer being frowned upon, such as before a mean in a restaurant or in a park or on a street. Some people have even claimed that it is illegal to pray publicly. This is absolutely incorrect. Prayer is completely legal under the First Amendment as freedom of speech.

The people need to be aware that they have the right to pray publicly, and that they do not need to be afraid of threats of legal problems if they pray. I would just like to encourage the readers to pray whenever they wish or to not look down on anyone who does.
