Support local youths, blossoming future
April showers bring May flowers … It’s a positive cliché, focused on a hopeful future. Much of what we hear today is focused on the negative, the things that are going wrong in our community, in “other people’s children.” This cliché acknowledges that there are negative experiences and they are followed by something beautiful — May flowers.
So in the spirit of focusing on the positive, we invite our community to join together and attend two local events this May.
The first at 5:30 p.m. on May 1 — a benefit dinner/ auction with dancing at the Sandpoint Events Center hosted by the Waldorf School. The proceeds from this event benefit not only the school but cancer survivor Scott Daly’s family in addition to 5 percent going to help support Jacey’s Race 2010. Please call 265-2683 for tickets.
The second event is a concert at the Panida on May 22, given by Nina Storey in memory of our dear friend, Dave Green. Dave was instrumental in launching the first Jacey’s Race in 2001. His family felt it appropriate to have memorial donations directed to the cause that Dave believed in, Jacey’s Race for kids with life-threatening illness.
People do get sick and no one is immune to the showers of tragedy yet the flowers of hope rise from the ashes. Please join us in celebrating what is good and attend these joyful events. Support our local children and support a blossoming future for us all.
