Currie fires 85 at Avondale

HAYDEN — Connor Currie fired a season-low 85, ranking 20th among the 95 golfers, to lead the Sandpoint boys golf team Monday at the Kraus Invitational golf tournament at Avondale.

“He played with the same ball all round so I owe him a Dub’s milkshake,” said head coach Jim Alsager of Currie. “It’s his most solid round of golf all year and he kept the ball in play. He would have been in the 70’s with a decent putting day.”

Mike Lewis was the only other Bulldog to break 100 on a long course with the potential for danger, as the Bulldogs finished 16th as a team.

Alex Pounds shot a 3-under 69 to claim medalist and lead the Coeur d’Alene boys gold team to a 304 and the team title.

The Bulldogs will host the Sandpoint Invitational next Monday, at The Links in Post Falls.
