Nostdahl, Kirby remain undefeated with straight set wins

SANDPOINT — Sandpoint swept the boys and girls singles en route to a 9-3 win over Post Falls in Inland Empire League tennis action Tuesday at sunny Travers Park.

Mikka Nostdahl and Kevin Kirby, both of whom have yet to lose this year, and serve and volley specialist Gerhardt Suppiger each won in straight sets in boys singles to lead the Bulldogs. Piper Wahlin and Susan Williams also won in straight sets, the latter playing what her coach called her best match of the year.

Meranda Carter and Mica Wolcott rallied to win the final four games after being down 5-3 in a tough three set battle at no. 1 girls doubles. Sandpoint is at Lake City on Thursday, before hosting Libby on Friday and Moscow on Saturday as the schedule heats up.
