Bulldog girls win second straight Chewelah Invitational
SPOKANE — Led by Ashlie McIntire’s season-low 94, the Sandpoint Bulldogs defended their title at the 11-team Chewelah Invitational on Friday, shooting a team score of 299 to edge Colville by three strokes.
McIntire putted well en route to a third place finish, followed by Jessie Webster-Merwin (101) and Charissa Chatburn (103), each nabbing a top 10 finish among more than 50 golfers.
“It was sunshine, smiles and thumbs up. A lot of good things happened for the girls golf team today,” said head coach Jim Alsager, lauding the consistency of McIntire. “She was hitting so well today, and didn’t even use the driver she was hitting her 3-wood so well.”
Kristi Mire carded a 126 and Margaret Nieman a 157 to round out the varsity scores, and Beth Lewis led the JV team with a solid 123, followed by Molly Lorden (155) and Anna Aylward (155).
The girls and boys golf teams host the Sandpoint Invite Monday at the Links in Post Falls.
