Bulldog tennis team plays Libby to a tie

| April 23, 2010 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — Sophomore Kevin Kirby won decisively in straight sets to remain undefeated (5-0) on the season, helping Sandpoint earn a 6-6 tie against a surprisingly strong Libby team in nonleague tennis action Friday at Travers Park.

Libby, which finished third at state in Montana last season, had its top two players double back and play in mixed doubles pro set matches, meaning Sandpoint technically won the match.

Bulldogs head coach Kent Anderson had high praise for the play of Rachel Mulgrew, who won for the second time at varsity No. 2 doubles after being called up from the JV team, teaming with Mica Wolcott for a straight set win.

The Bulldogs host 4A North rival Moscow today at high noon at Travers Park.
