BGH Foundation celebrates 'Champions of Care'

Many of us have a story of a healthcare provider who went the extra mile for us or who made our hospital stay a little bit easier. At Bonner General Hospital, we often receive cards and letters from patients or their families telling us how a particular individual made a positive difference in their hospital stay. This is one of the reasons the BGH Foundation established the Champions of Care program, which publicly recognizes those on our staff who go the extra mile for our patients or their families.

Last week I was fortunate to be present when JoAnn Filce, one of the nurses in our maternity unit, was recognized as a Champion of Care. JoAnn was honored by the family of one of her patients for providing compassionate and reassuring care to a mom who had endured a prolonged, difficult labor. While JoAnn was surprised and deeply touched by the honor, her response was “that’s just what we do here every day.” And she’s right.

If you or a loved one has received outstanding care from someone at Bonner General Hospital, you can recognize them as a Champion of Care and help support the hospital by making a donation in their honor. Your Champion of Care is recognized in front of their peers and receives a custom lapel pin to wear each day while continuing the work that touches so many in our community. Your gift not only recognizes and encourages excellence in care and service, but it also helps us provide better healthcare to the entire community by funding new technology and equipment, community wellness programs and so much more.

JoAnn is just one example of the many individuals at Bonner General Hospital who wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to our patients every day. If someone went the extra mile for you and you’d like to honor them as a Champion of Care, please call 265-3390 or visit www.BGHFoundation.org for more information.
