Mearlene Kassebaum, 84

Mearlene Kassebaum, 84, of Sandpoint died Thursday, August 5, 2010 at Bonner General Hospital. 

Graveside services for Mearlene will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, 2010, at Pack River Cemetery, with Pastor Harvey Riffle, officiating. Friends may call at Coffelt Funeral Chapel on Monday from 8-11 a.m.

She was born Jan. 6, 1926, in Beaver Dam, Ind., the daughter of Merl and Blanche Engle.  She was raised and educated in Warsaw, Ind.

She was married to Joseph Kassebaum on June 30, 1946, in Winona Lake, Ind. As her husband was in the U.S. Marine Corps they lived in eight different states prior to moving to Sandpoint in 1978 from Oceanside, Calif.

Mearlene was involved in the banking industry and served as vice president of Oceanside National Bank. 

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Kassebaum of Sandpoint; two children, JoEllen Kassebaum of San Diego, Calif., and Bruce A. Kassebaum of Vista, Calif.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters. She was preceded in death by a brother.
