Since when are profits a bad thing?

| August 16, 2010 9:00 PM

Regarding Mr. Shellhorn’s letter accusing the GOP of being for big business and profits.

Personally, I think profits are great. I wish there were some available right now. Our dollar is not worth as much because our government is printing more money every time they need some. It’s beginning to have as much value as Monopoly money.

Foreclosures are the result of banks being forced by government to quit requiring people to be able to pay back the loans they get. (Jimmy Carter’s 1977 Community Reinvestment Act). There is plenty of government regulation already. Government was already regulating Wall Street, and yet Madoff and others manage to either fool or buy off government officials. Oil companies are currently regulated by the government. Need I say more about that.

Companies making money is not a bad thing, people making money is not a bad thing. If you could pull the government regulators away from their porn sites things might go a little smoother, and we wouldn’t need nearly so many government workers.

Too much government is a bad thing, an oppressive thing, and very costly to the working folks. And as far as talking about some Republicans’ private lives, well, I think I could one-for-one you with Democrats, as being a jerk seems to have no particular political leanings.

Profits trickle down. The only thing that trickles up is poverty and apathy. I think those corporate executives should fly all over in their jets, just like the first lady does.
