Oden Water receives DEQ loan
SANDPOINT — The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality is awarding a $450,000 low-interest loan to pay for upgrades to the Oden Water Association’s water system.
The loan from the state’s Revolving Loan Fund carries a simple 1.75 percent interest rate and is payable over 20 years. DEQ is authorized by state law to make loans to assist in the construction of public drinking water systems.
The department estimates the loan arrangement will save the association nearly $145,000 in interest over the life of the loan when compared to loans using municipal bond rates in effect when the loan was offered.
The funding will be used to replace worn and damaged ultra-filtration modules and to install a new water line from the association’s filter plant to the storage reservoir. A new water line will also be installed to connect the reservoir with the Whiskey Jack subdivision.
