Elks hosting Patriotic Golf Scramble

| August 18, 2010 9:00 PM

SANDPOINT — The 3rd annual Patriotic Golf Scramble, a fundraiser for area veterans, returns on Sunday, Aug. 22, at 9 a.m. at the Elks Golf Course.

Over the past two years, the Sandpoint Elks have been able to donate more than $10,000 to the local chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America, which has enabled them to help many vets around the Sandpoint area.

The event is again being hosted by the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Sandpoint Lodge No. 1376. The Elks National Veterans Service Commission has pledged this: “So long as there are Veterans the BPOE will never forget those who have served our great country.”

The Sandpoint Elks will donate all the profits from this event to the local chapter No. 890 of the Vietnam Veterans of America, who help and support all North Idaho Veterans. The money raised from this scramble will assist this organization in their quest to provide assistance for needy veterans and/or their families.

The past several years have proven to be a success both in attendance and support from the community as well as money donated to the VVA.

“We are still looking for teams, as well as donations of any size for prizes,” says Linda Tatlock, a scramble committee member.  “The more money we raise, the more we can help our veterans.”
