SMS sets sign-up date for football

SANDPOINT — Attention middle school football players: Sign ups for all 7th and 8th graders wanting to play football this fall will be held on Monday, Aug. 30, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sandpoint Middle School gym.

 All of the paperwork will be handed out and must be signed by the parent for athletes to be eligible. Practice will start on Tuesday, Aug. 31 from 9-11 a.m., and will be held on Wednesday and Thursday at the same time. No practice will be held on Friday, Sept. 3.

All participants must have a physical dated no earlier than May 1, of 2010, and participants will also need to have proof of medical insurance. All students must purchase an ASB card for $25 before they are eligible for the first game.

When school begins on Sept. 7 the teams will practice from 2:40-5 p.m. daily. There will be meetings when school starts to sign up for volleyball, cross country, intramural golf and intramural tennis. SMS Athletic Director David DeMers is currently looking for a new intramural golf coach. Anyone interested should contact SMS at 265-4169 for more details.
