Victor W. 'Vic' Baxter Jr., 81
Victor W. “Vic” Baxter, Jr. 81 of Sandpoint, Idaho, passed away at his home on Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010, at his home after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Memorial services for Victor will be conducted 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, at Coffelt Funeral Chapel.
He was born Feb. 4, 1929, in Riverside, Calif., with his twin sister Victoria. He graduated from Poly High School in Riverside in 1946.
He served with the U.S. Army as an MP in Korea from 1950-1952. Following his discharge he worked in the family well drilling business for a number of years in the Los Angeles area.
He later worked as a long haul trucker for Archway Cookie Company; driving from Los Angeles to Sacramento and San Francisco.
Following his retirement in 1974, Vic learned the jewelry making business, and began selling custom jewelry from his home. He moved to Sandpoint in 1997.
Victor enjoyed golfing and bowling.
He is survived by the love of his life, Ina Loman, and her children, Ted (Melony) Loman of Sandpoint, Becky (Mike) Freeland of Hope, and Sandy Loman of Sagle; his daughter, Janet Hererra of Redding, Calif.; a son, Greg (Laura) Baxter of Sacramento, Calif.; a stepson, Mike Evans of Beaumont, Calif.; 16 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and by many extended family members and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Margaret Gallaway, and Victoria Hanson; and a son, Dana Baxter.
