Bulldog volleyball team dominates at jamboree
COEUR d’ALENE — The Sandpoint volleyball team was sharp at the season-opening jamboree Tuesday night at Coeur d’Alene High School, downing the host Vikings 25-22, Lakeland 25-12, Post Falls 25-17 and Lake City 25-14.
Sam Buratto and Alex Bucholtz had seven kills apiece, Ariel Moe tallied 15 set assists, Mackenzie Jones added 13 assists and four service aces, Blake Plaster had 14 digs and Buratto added a team-high three blocks to lead the Bulldogs, who passed an early season test and answered some of their coach’s questions.
“I was surprised, these girls are gamers,” said Alsager, who really wasn’t sure what to expect from a team with a lot of new pieces. “We’ve been practicing hard, but you never know what it’s going to turn into. They needed tonight to play, to express themselves and have fun.”
Sandpoint hosts Post Falls on Sept. 2 in their home opener. See Saturday’s Daily Bee for a complete season preview of all the Sandpoint and Clark Fork fall sports teams.
