For its sake, leave your dog at home

| August 24, 2010 9:00 PM

I went to Sagle the other day — big mistake. It took me 45 minutes to get back north over the Long Bridge. I kept thinking how wonderful it will be when the construction, both in town and the bypass are complete.

The worst part of the trip was watching the dog in the back of the pickup truck in front of me — it was terrible to see. The poor thing was too hot (it was 90 outside) and it was panting and pacing, no shade, no breeze, we were at a standstill. He also was very afraid every time a large truck would pass in the opposite lane. It made me very sad and upset.

I don’t understand dogs in the back of pickups. I have a good friend who killed both his dogs when he was in an accident and they were in  the back. If you talk with any vet, they will tell you horror stories about what they see after dogs have been thrown or jumped out of truck beds. Please, next time, leave the dog home, or put him inside with you.
