LEWISTON — Led by hat tricks from Shane Stanley and Tanner Williams, the Bulldog boys soccer team scored early and often, trouncing Lewiston to the tune of 11-1 in Inlane Empire League action in Lewiston.

Seven different Sandpoint players found the back of the net in the one-sided affair, as the Bulldogs posted an early 3-0 lead after just seven minutes of action and led 6-0 at the half.

“On the bus trip to Lewiston, you never know how the guys will respond, and they were ready,” said head coach Adam Tajan. “We got it rolling right away and I really like how we moved the ball around.”

Besides the six tallies from Williams and Stanley, the Bulldogs (1-0-1) also got goals from Gerhart Suppiger, Jasper Gibson, Jeff Rokstad, Joab Logan and Lane Smith in the offensive barrage.

All but one of the goals were assisted, with Lucas McCoy dishing out three assists and Williams and Jeff Rokstad adding two apiece.

Sandpoint outshot Lewiston 22-4, and goalies Kanyen Bauer and Austin Keyes had a combined shutout until Lewiston struck for its only goal late in the game.
