Nelson Redding

On Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 25, 2010, Nelson Redding passed away at his home in Laclede, Idaho.

Nelson was born in Cassville, Mo., on Feb. 14, 1930, the fifth in a family of six children. He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Redding; mother, Jessie; and siblings, Pete Redding, Irene Humphries, Olivine Jenkins and Vera Redding.

He is survived by his wife, Ardell Redding; sons, Marc Redding and David Redding; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and his sister, Demoise Pounds.

Nelson’s family moved from Missouri to Ukiah, Calif.,, where he graduated from Ukiah High School in 1947.

In 1950, he married Ardell Lindberg. Nelson entered the excavation business which led to his employment with the Willow County Water District, where he worked for 34 years, including 10 as general manager.

Nelson served two terms on the Mendocino County Board of Supervisors (known as county commissioner in Idaho) being first elected in 1985.

Upon his retirement from the water district in 1993, Nelson and Ardell moved to Laclede, where he attended Laclede Community Church. Nelson continued his excavation business until his first stroke in 2008.

Memorial service will be held at the Laclede Community Church, Sunday, Dec. 5, at 1 p.m.

Lunch and fellowship time will follow the service. Public is intived.
