Kirscher posts double-double in defeat
SANDPOINT — Maggie Kirscher had a huge game for Sandpoint, but it wasn’t enough in a 41-26 loss to Lakeland in a 4A North girls basketball game Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court.
Kirscher posted 14 points, 14 rebounds and four steals, and Hailey Olin added eight, but the number that hurt the Bulldogs most was 33 turnovers.
Down 28-15 at half, the Bulldogs (1-5, 0-2 4A IEL) ratcheted up the defense in the third quarter, holding the Hawks (2-4, 1-0) to just two points and cutting the lead to eight points heading into the fourth quarter.
Neena Buchman led Lakeland with 14 points.
Sandpoint faces host Pendleton on Friday in the two-day Pendleton Tournament.

n Fuhrman shoots Bulldogs past Badgers (late)
SANDPOINT — Cole Fuhrman poured in a game-high 23 points, from both inside and out, leading Sandpoint to a 56-37 win over Bonners Ferry in nonleague boys basketball action Monday night at Les Rogers Court.
Blaine Shultz added eight points, Evan Rains six and Brandon Hawkins nine rebounds for the Bulldogs (2-0), who continue to gel with a bunch of new faces.
“In the second quarter we got a little stagnant,” said Bulldogs coach Tyler Haynes. “We came out in the second half and screened, moved away from the ball and pushed the lead up to 20.”
Sandpoint is at the Pendleton Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
