Roger Lee Grossman, 67

Roger Lee Grossman, 67, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010, in Clark Fork, Idaho. Services will take place next spring in Fort Benton, Mont.

Roger was born on Dec.10, 1942 in Fort Benton, to Carl and Violet Grossman. He spent his childhood growing up on his family’s wheat farm near Shonkin, Mont. He attended Fort Benton High School and was a member of the basketball team.

After graduating high school, Roger attended Montana State University in Bozeman, Mont., and then graduated from Washington State University with degrees in agriculture and zoology. He then went on to work for five years at the WSU Experiment Station in Prosser, Wash.

At that time Roger also served his country in the National Guard for six years. He bought his first farm in Sunnyside, Wash., and then spent the majority of his years raising wine grapes, wheat, asparagus, and cattle in the Yakima Valley. He also owned Curley’s Tavern in Gleed, Wash.

Roger enjoyed the challenge and freedom of being self employed throughout his life.

On Aug. 12, 1991, Roger married Deborah Hall in Lake Tahoe, Calif. The couple made their home in Clark Fork.

Roger enjoyed agriculture, gardening, raising tomatoes, playing pinochle, visiting with family and friends, traveling, and his dog, Sonny.

He is survived by his loving wife Deborah Grossman of Clark Fork; three sons by his former wife, Sylvia: Mark and Jon of Spokane, Wash., and Mike of Ridgefield, Wash.; three grandchildren; and two brothers, Steven Grossman of Shonkin, Mont., and Darrel Grossman of Chinook, Mont..

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Dennis Grossman.
