Six Top Dogs win titles
RATHDRUM — Twenty Top Dog wrestlers concluded their fall season on Saturday by collecting medals at the North Idaho Wrestling League’s Panhandle Championships, which drew nearly 500 wrestlers from across North Idaho and Eastern Washington.
With several wrestlers working through 16-man brackets, the Top Dogs advanced eight wrestlers to the championship matches with six capturing titles. Kaleb Chabiel, Scout Nash, Patrick Kummer, Ty Murray, Hyrum Hunsaker and Casey Randles each captured titles. Finishing second for the Top Dogs were Tyssen Case and Lydia Nelson.
Several Top Dogs came back from defeats to post multiple wins en route to third place finishes. Owen Stebbins, Casey Oleson, Brock Kluver, Brent Buckmiller, Brennan Till and Shane Sherill each finished third. Also advancing to the podium for Sandpoint: fourth place — Damon Dalthorpe, Hattie Larson and Tanner McNelly; fifth place — Max Knight; and sixth place — Ryan McNelly and Dominic Chabiel.
Top Dog had six wrestlers finish the five-tournament season with one or fewer losses, including four undefeated wrestlers.
