Sandpoint Shark swimmers end the year with a strong kick

COEUR d’ALENE — A host of Sandpoint Sharks notched top finishes at the Jingle Bell Splash last weekend at the Kroc Center in Coeur d’Alene, the final youth swim meet of the year.

Head coach Mike Brosnahan had 19 girls post time drops in their respective events, calling the meet a great way to end 2010.

Payton Bokowy had a stellar meet, winning eight events — the 100 back, 50 breast, 100 free, 200 free, 50 fly, 100 breast, 50 back and 50 free. She also teamed with Erin Meek, Ilys Anderson and Brianna Barlow to place third in the 200 free relay, the top relay finish for the Sharks.

Brosnahan had high praise for the swimming of Bokowy, Chandler Sanborn, Emily Deitz and Genevieve Price.

Other Sharks to notch top 10 finishes include: Morgan Anderson (6th in 25 fly, 7th in 100 free, 8th in 50 breast), Brianna Barlow (9th in 200 free), Kate Bokowy (7th in 50 fly and 25 breast, 8th in 100 IM), Briana Brosnahan (3rd in 100 back), Emily Deitz (10th in 100 back), Kate Motlosz (9th in 50 free), Genevieve Price (7th in 50 breast), Chandler Sanborn (8th in 25 fly), Logan Sanborn (10th in 50 fly) and Kinzie Ward (9th in 100 free, 10th in 25 fly).
