Carmen Darlene (Broadfoot) Norstog, 63

| December 16, 2010 6:00 AM

Our beloved Carmen Darlene (Broadfoot) Norstog, 63, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 12, 2010, in Sagle, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2010, at the Sandpoint Christian Center on North Boyer with Pastor Wesley Ribeiro officiating.

She was an amazing woman and was dearly loved by many people. Carmen was born in Pendleton, Ore., on Sept. 29, 1947, to Carmel and Helen (Cook) Broadfoot and was the fun, big sister to Sherry Mirabal and Randy Broadfoot. She spent her youth in Oregon, Idaho and Arizona, but finally settled in northern Idaho as a young woman.

Carmen was such a kind and caring person, it was no surprise that she found employment with Panhandle Special Needs Inc. and found it so rewarding. She was instrumental in obtaining grant money to start a group home for developmentally challenged adults, which later became known as the Monarch House. She gained many dear friends there. This kind spirit also lead her to a career in social work and the job she loved so much at BGH/KMC Cancer Treatment Center.

Carmen loved children and was blessed with a huge family full of nieces, nephews and in-laws, but one of the most joyous occasions in her life was the day she married Paul William Norstog on Dec. 6, 1987. She beamed with pride for her children, Orianna, Candra, Ashley, and Jamie, but was downright silly with love for her grandbabies and great-nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister Sherry Mirabal and one brother Randy Broadfoot.

Everyone that knew Carmen appreciated her strong faith in God, which allowed her to face her challenges with such amazing grace. Carmen, your dear friends and family love you and miss you so much! “Happy trails to you, until we meet again.”

Memorial donations may be made to Community Cancer Services, 1215 Michigan Street, Suite B, Sandpoint, ID 83864.
