Buratto, Tucker lead Bulldogs in defeat
SANDPOINT — Connor Williams scored 22 points, one of four Vikings in double figures, as Coeur d’Alene was clicking offensively in an 85-64 nonleague win over Sandpoint Tuesday night at Les Rogers Court.
The Vikings (12-5) did the bulk of their damage inside, with Deon Watson chipping in 15 points, and held a double-digit lead for much of the game.
Stefan Buratto had another stellar night offensively, leading the Bulldogs (5-10) with 25 points, before fouling out midway through the fourth quarter with his team trailing.
Skyler Tucker added 17 points and three assists, and Brandon Lawrence seven points and four rebounds in defeat, as the Bulldogs quickly turn their attention to a much more pivotal upcoming home game against Lakeland. Head coach Tyler Haynes still believes his team has a chance to host the district tournament.
“Our destiny is in our hands, but we need to win on Thursday,” said Haynes, whose team made 20 turnovers in an earlier loss to Lakeland. “We’ve improved a great deal since we last played them.”
Sandpoint hosts Lakeland Thursday night at 7:30 p.m.
