| February 6, 2010 8:00 PM

Occupants of a car that eluded Idaho and Washington police late Friday afternoon were identified on Saturday

Timothy R. Allen, 17, of Worley, was allegedly the driver of a 2002 Lincoln LS involved in a pursuit that began on U.S. 95 near Elder Road just north of the Coeur d’Alene Casino around 4:36 p.m.

He was arrested several hours after three passengers in the car were taken into custody when the car was disabled near Stateline. They were identified by Idaho State Police as Molly Matt, 18, of Coeur d’Alene; Johnny Matt 21, of Tensed; and Louise Charley, 18, of Desmet. Charley was taken to Kootenai Medical Center, where she was treated for unspecified injuries and released.

The chase began when ISP troopers attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving northbound on the highway near Elder Road.

The vehicle failed to yield which initiated a pursuit at speeds reported as up to 100 mph.

The vehicle continued northbound to just south of the Spokane River where the suspects turned off on a county road and traveled west on county roads, tossing out beer cans along the way, into Washington on Appleway Road and into Liberty Lake.

The suspects then entered onto Interstate 90 and headed east toward Idaho.

ISP troopers deployed the spike system near the state line, flattening the driver side tires of the vehicle. The suspect tried to force his way through heavy traffic on the bridge crossing into Idaho, sideswiping two vehicles, then lost control of the vehicle, spun out and came to rest off the right shoulder of the roadway at which time all four people left the vehicle and fled on foot.

A Kootenai County patrol dog was deployed, biting one of the suspects.

Three were arrested, and the driver fled on foot south toward the Spokane River. Officers and dogs searched the area for about one hour before calling off the manhunt.

The driver was later spotted in the Pleasant View area where he was arrested without incident. All subjects have been charged with numerous felony and misdemeanor charges.

Nine Idaho, Washington, Tribal and U.S. agencies assisted with the incident.
