Information is sought on reckless driver

| February 8, 2010 8:00 PM

Saturday, about 6 p.m. on Highway 200 near the entrance to the former Hidden Lakes Golf course, we were passed by a white Dodge pickup on a blind corner.

The pickup was travelling at probably 70, 80 or more miles per hour. I flashed my headlights as the truck sped into the distance. My wife commented to me,” My gosh that’s an accident waiting to happen.”

Sure enough, two miles later we were stopped by flashing lights of motorists stopped to try to assist a calf moose run over by the reckless driver who never stopped. The moose had to be dispatched by a sheriff’s deputy. Sheriff Daryl Wheeler responded, even though off duty, trying to apprehend the pickup driver.

The sheriff’s office needs help. Many folks will sign a complaint to get this person off the road!

Any information regarding the truck a mid-1990s Dodge 4x4 with no tail gate or a black tail gate, less one side mirror (found at the site), will help greatly.

Thanks to Sheriff Wheeler and Idaho Fish and Game Officer Tom Weyland.
