According to a December 2009 poll by the Kaiser Family Foundation, a not-for-profit healthcare research group, nearly 32 percent of Americans said their family has had problems paying medical bills in the past year. Nearly 20 percent said their bills had been in excess of $1,000.

Staying healthy should naturally be a priority for all of us, but in an ailing economy when many people find themselves without adequate health insurance, it’s even more critical to guard your health.  That’s just one of the reasons why Bonner General Hospital is launching a community wellness lecture series.

Pre-sented by Bonner General Hospital Founda-tion, this wellness series is designed to provide information about different health topics and to answer the questions that are uppermost on your mind.

Members of the hospital’s medical staff have volunteered to present information about a different wellness topic each month, followed by a question and answer discussion.

The series will take place on the second Thursday of each month from 6-7 p.m. at the hospital. Best of all, there’s no charge to attend.

Join us tomorrow night at 6 p.m. for a discussion on “Cholesterol: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” with Dr. Scott Dunn.  It’s not only an excellent opportunity to learn more about cholesterol and its effects on your body, but it’s also a great chance to learn more about the healthcare resources available right here in Sandpoint.

Information about upcoming sessions on the hospital website at www.bonnergeneral.org

Your health is your most precious asset, so plan now to take advantage of this monthly wellness series and learn more about how to protect it.
