SAGLE — A Washington state motorist was injured on Wednesday morning after his vehicle was struck by another motorist attempting to dart across U.S. Highway 95 at Sagle Road.

Idaho State Police said Scott A. McKay was headed south and approaching the intersection when Eli G. Zech attempted to cross from the Conoco filling station to Sagle Road. Zech’s Honda Odyssey minivan struck the rear portion of McKay’s Chrysler Pacifica, causing it to overturn and slide across the two northbound lanes.

McKay’s midsize crossover sport utility vehicle came to rest on the northbound shoulder, where it partially blocked the roadway, ISP said.

McKay, a 56-year-old from Vancouver, Wash., was taken to Bonner General Hospital for treatment. Zech, 18, of Sagle, was not injured, state police said.

Both motorists were wearing seat belts.

Zech was cited for inattentive driving, according to ISP.
