Wampus Cats fall to Miners

CLARK FORK — Freshman Axel Anderson scored 17 points to lead Clark Fork on Senior Night, but it wasn’t enough as the Miners ran away with a 63-41 win Tuesday night in North Star League boys basketball at Clark Fork High School.

Chaunce Nesbitt, Victor Walker and James Kennerly were honored before the game for Clark Fork (0-18, 0-8 NSL), which played inspired ball and was down just 30-25 at halftime.

Zach Klein and Nate Nesbitt each hit three pointers as the Cats showed flashed of the future in the second quarter, outscoring the Miners 15-12, as Anderson did the bulk of his damage in the first half.

“Axel had a great game,” said Cats coach Melvin Speelmon. “Wallace went on a third quarter run and set the tone for the rest of the game.”

Clancy Drews led the Miners (10-10, 7-1 NSL) with a game-high 25 points.

Clark Fork plays at Mullan in a loser-out district game on Tuesday.
