Administration needs to cut unwanted frills

| February 17, 2010 8:00 PM

Obama has been talking a lot lately (as well as in the past) about how we all need to sacrifice: pay for college tuitions instead of a new boat or expensive vacations to Vegas, not to eat as much as we want or drive our SUVs whenever we want, and to lower the thermostat etc.

I appreciate our president’s advice, and my family has been diligently following it. I only wish that Mr. Obama (and the rest of our government leaders) would follow this council. Here’s a few of the many suggestions that might be given: No more $500,000 date nights with Michelle to NYC Broadway shows at taxpayer expense. Get rid of Mrs. Obama’s 25 taxpayer-funded servants. Stop entertaining Hollywood and music stars at the White House at taxpayer expense. Admit that man-made global warming really is the hoax it’s proven to be and stop jetsetting around the world (which would contribute to global warming if there was such a thing) at taxpayer expense and committing billions of taxpayer dollars, which we don’t have, to fight sham scientific claims. Stop bailing out corporations, (including health care!) at taxpayer expense and let the free market do what is has always done: weed out the wasteful, unneccassary, mismanaged and/or redundant businesses while stimulating innovation. Encourage other nations to develop free market principles of economy we once had so that their nations can become as rich as we once were. They then could better provide for themselves instead of constantly relying on our nation to provide for them.
